Hazard: The manufacturer has identified a potential weakness in a weld on the scissor lifts. They have provided a kit which should be fitted to the scissor lift. The manufacturer has issued instructions to avoid using the lift with a load exceeding 3.5 tonnes until the kit has been fitted. While awaiting the fitting of the kit a 4.5t lift catastrophically failed with a load of 2.5t.
Corrective Action: End users should stop using the scissor lift immediately until the manufacturer’s kit has been fitted. Contact Tecalemit Garage Equipment on 01752 219100 to arrange supply and installation of the kit.
